About Session

When Anthony Albanese voted to recognise a Palestinian state at the UN in September, he reiterated his support for two states. A two state solution is further out of reach than ever – with Gaza reduced to rubble and the West Bank now home to over 700,000 illegal settlers. But the two-state solution has always been a fraud, a fantasy peddled by the West while Israel created “facts on the ground”. The Oslo negotiations in 1993 were used to dampen the uprising of the First Intifada. Now ‘recognition’ is being pushed as a way to disarm and isolate Hamas, and deny Palestinians’ right to resist. In reality Israel is an apartheid state. Netanyahu openly proclaims his ambition to create “greater Israel” on the basis of Jewish supremacy. This session will discuss why the two state solution is a fraud and what real Palestinian liberation could look like.
