Karina Lester

Karina is a Yankunytjatjara woman from the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands (APY Lands) in South Australia. She is a second-generation survivor of British nuclear tests that took place at Emu Fields in October 1953 . Karina will speak via Zoom about her family and community’s role in the anti-nuclear movement—from bomb tests through to opposing nuclear waste dumps in a session on “From nuclear waste to nuclear weapons—Resisting radioactive capitalism”.
